Konfabulator
Recently, Yahoo! bought the company that develops Konfabulator, a program which allows users to run small applications called widgets on their desktop. Some of the widgets are quite handy and they look good on the desktop too. Best of all, Konfabulator is now free. Run this program only if you have RAM to spare.
