The focus of my Master’s thesis research was the use of Information and Communication Technologies for Development. In particular, the NextDrop project is trying to solve the problem of providing accurate and reliable information about water availability in the developing world with broader applications in the future. The NextDrop team has received some very generous support over the last year and a half which allowed us to continue working on the project. Most recently, NextDrop was one of the winners of the Knight News Challenge and was awarded $375,000.
Two of my team mates are moving to India to work full time on the project which should result in faster progress. I’m only involved in an advisory role now, and hope to do my bit in helping NextDrop succeed.
