37Signals profiled in Time Magazine

37Signals was recently profiled in Time magazine. MSM usually screws up somewhere. And, they did… I thought this was funny.

To help build Basecamp, Campfire and the company’s other core applications, Hansson developed Ruby on Rails. It gives 37signals’ software a consistent look: sleek, friendly and without the extraneous bells and whistles that plague much of the bloated software sold by larger companies.

Hmmm. ok! Use RoR to build applications with a consistent sleek look.

  • Read this very entertaining essay about the Chinese language and the author’s attempt to learn it. It’s common knowledge that Chinese is a very inefficient language, but it takes a linguist to tell you exactly why it’s a nightmare to learn. (0)
  • NYTimes writes about a new pair of headphones from Shure which has a switch to cut off the music. What’s amusing is that it also has an external microphone which picks up ambient noise. So, you’re listening to the sounds around you via a mike and headphones. What’s next? Spectacles with built-in video cameras to see?
